SHEBA NYARONGA: Chief Executive Officer of Alive and Kicking Kenya

Sheba Nyaronga is an award winning business development and social impact professional with over six
years of experience in sports for development. As the CEO of Alive and Kicking Kenya, a not for profit
social enterprise founded in 2004, Sheba leads efforts to address the chronic shortage of affordable,
durable, and repairable sports balls in Kenya. This shortage has significantly hindered children’s access
to play, particularly in disadvantaged communities.

Alive and Kicking Kenya hand stitches high quality leather footballs, netballs, and volleyballs, creating
employment opportunities while ensuring a gender balanced workforce that includes persons with
disabilities. The organization sustains its initiatives by selling these balls and forming partnerships to
donate them to less advantaged communities.

Additionally, they undertake health awareness campaigns and produce custom balls for organizations
to use in marketing and awareness efforts. Sheba’s extensive knowledge and expertise span the service
delivery industry and academic research. Her contributions include work on the National Health
Insurance Fund payment options study and other initiatives. She holds a Master of Development Studies
from the University of Nairobi and an undergraduate degree from the United States International
University – Africa.

When she is not doing that, she is enjoying food, as a self-declared food enthusiasts.
