Blossom Health Essentials is an agro-processing company based in Sega, SiayaCounty, Kenya. We
specialize in producing high-quality cassava flour, focusing on empoweringsmallholder farmers,
promoting sustainable farming practices, and contributing to food security in ourregion. Our mission is
to address poverty and improve economic opportunities by enhancing thecassava value chain and
creating job opportunities.
Founder’s Profile:
Juliet Oduor is the visionary founder of Blossom Health Essentials. With a background in Biomedical
Technology and Occupational Safety and Health, Juliet has always been passionate about
environmental conservation and natural remedies. Her journey into agro-processing was deeply
personal, stemming from her son’s gluten allergy. This challenge led her to explore gluten-free
alternatives, eventually creating Blossom Health Essentials. Juliet’s commitment to health,
sustainability, and community empowerment drives her work, ensuring the highest quality products for
her customers.
Milestone:
- 2020: Established a production and processing plant in Sega, Siaya County, and added a chapati mix
- product line. Crowdfunded to purchase a solar dryer and expanded to 14 farmers.
- 2021: Developed three new product lines: chocolate cake, coconut cake, bread mixes, and plain
- cassava flour. Received grant funding and expanded to 10 additional retail outlets.
- 2022: Increased the farmer network to 73 and continued product development.
- 2023: Expanded to selling at tier-one supermarket Quickmart and received funding from USADF, Aga
- Khan Foundation, and WIDU. Increased farmer network to 124.
- 2024: Working on two new product lines. Expanded farmer network to 276.
